On January 22, 1906, the ship S. S. Valencia, with 173 onboard, wrecked off Beale Point, Vancouver Island on its way from San Francisco to Seattle. The unidentified from that shipwreck are buried at the Valencia Shipwreck Monument in Mount Pleasant.
