Preservation Award Winner: Queen Anne Farmers Market

Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing short interviews with our Preservation Award winners, celebrating their achievements and documenting the work they’ve done for the Queen Anne Community. Special thanks to Queen Anne resident Elizabeth Hefner, who serves on our Outreach Committee, for kicking off this series of interviews!

Matt Kelly, Queen Anne Farmer's Market Manager

Question: Matt, is there anything about the Farmers Market you wish more people knew?

Answer: It’s largely volunteer-led, so there are more than 40 people giving their time and energy towards making the market a positive place in the community and that we support more than 150 jobs here in the Seattle economy and the Puget Sound Region. Be them growers or food artisans or prepared food businesses and the market doesn’t happen without the community.

Notes:

The Queen Anne Farmers Market is Seattle’s only independent market. It takes place at West Crockett and Queen Anne Avenue, from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm. For 2024 it runs from May 30 – October 10.

Elizabeth Hefner is a Queen Anne resident who serves on the outreach committee for Queen Anne Historical Society.
