Louise & Charles A. Riddle House – 153 Highland Dr.

Charles A. Riddle had this residence at the corner of Warren Avenue N. built for his family by Seattle architect Edwin W. Houghton. A successful attorney, Charles lived here with his wife Louise and five children. Three of them -- Ridgley, Florence and Louise -- were from Louise's first marriage to Albert Burwell Force. They all took Riddle as their last name. Charles was the father of the other two, Rosamond and Katharine. Louise Powers Riddle passed away on July 24, 1925. At the time of Charles's death three years later on September 24, 1928, daughters Louise and Katharine still lived at home. According to the city directory for 1928, Louise worked as a stenographer for the county clerk while Katharine worked as a 'tracer,' probably in an architectural office. In 1928, Charles's daughter Rosamond and his stepson Ridgely had married and were no longer living at 153 Highland Drive. Florence had died in 1909.
